The night I met Julia Nunes and Donald Glover at a party in 2009

This is very old and embarrassing but incredibly fitting for tonight.  

This was a video taken at the SLATE: College Comedy Festival in 2009.  To this day, the best party I’ve ever bin to in my life.  I met many friends I still have today that night.  

I also met (and free-styled with) Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino, Julia Nunes, and the rest of the boys in Derrick Comedy.  There was zero footage of the actual party.  It breaks my heart to even italicize that. 

Donald and DC ending up french kissing two good friends of mine.  Julia was hanging out, hung over, in the house when morning came back around.  I asked her to be in my video so I would have SOME tangible memory of the night before.  With sleep and shame in her eyes, she politely refused.  I drove home embarrassed to have asked.  

A few years later I kept running into her in NYC.  I referenced SLATE, and all that had transpired at evening, hoping she wouldn’t remember me at the kid with the flip camera.  She did.  We became friends in spite of my headband.
